Rio Grande
We are leaving Ushuaia again today. but we only have 230 km to go until Rio Grande which is still in Tierra del Fuego. We have to do this short section today because there is not enough time to go the full distance to catch the ferry in Provenia,Chile to take us to Punta Arenas. so we are having a staging post stop tonight and will leave early tomorrow morning. The road out of Ush was bathed in amazing sunshine this morning as we rode through the valleys surrounded on each si

Ushuaia
17 October 2025 Feeling the effects of Patagonia beer, we had a hasty breakfast and decided to get on the road. Today our destination is Ushuaia. This is somewhat of a motorcyclists dream destination. One of those places that is almost mythical along with others like Prudhoe Bay, Cape Town and North Cape. It also holds special significance for me because of my time with the expedition cruise industry and having spent so much of my life there during the late 90s and early 20

Cerro Sombrero
17th October 2025 KTM ?? Here we go again! Today we are heading for the end of Route 40. A place called Cabo Virgines The temperature is now dropping every day and today it was 4° when we loaded our bikes and headed off to the petrol station to fill up for the morning. We rode out of town and we were immediately confronted by a large traffic jam, which was due to a protest on one of the bridges out of Rio Gallegos. We have no idea what they were protesting against, but they h

Rio Gallegos
16th October 2025 Having slept the night on a bunkbed, which was located right outside Tim‘s bedroom door I was more than happy to wake up, get dressed and get ready to leave this morning. Today we have another 380 km road run all the way down to Rio Gallegos. There is not much to see in this desolate section of Patagonia and one of our conversations during our ride was why or how that these towns exist. They are anything between 300 and 500 km apart and without knowing the h

Puerto St Julian
15th October 2025 I woke up at 5 am to the sound of the wind howling outside the hotel windows. Having tried to sleep a little longer I noticed a message from Tim to say that he was already up and had had breakfast. I think both of us were worried about today having felt the full blast of Patagonia‘s winds yesterday. We said goodbye to our new friends and headed off to find petrol for what was to be quite a long day. We were supposed to visit the petrified forest in the middl

Comodoro Rividavia
13 October 2025 I woke up at 6:00 a.m. and walked out to go to the bathroom only to find Tim sitting in a chair fully dressed and ready to go eating a bag of nuts. Is this really what I’ve gotta put up with for the next two months? Talk about keen . Today we are riding Ruta provincial no 1., almost all the way to Commodoro Rivadavia. we had had a lot of wind overnight and I personally was not feeling in the mood for another 260 km of off-road riding. We decided to do it anyw

Puerto Camerones
12th October 2025 I woke up to birds nesting on my roof. I'd heard them all night and wondered what the hell was going on. I went out and checked the situation. It was some incredible bluebirds that had found a hole in the sheet metal, and we were making a home... It would be another glorious day, and after breakfast, we proceeded to load our bikes again for what would be 191 km off-road to Puerto Cammerones. It's difficult to describe riding on the Ripeo surface because the

Trevelin and Dos Pocos
11th October 2025 After I had a somewhat hectic day yesterday, we were looking forward to a quiet day as we headed towards Dos Pocos, which is a small ranch around 100 km south of Trevelin. We are back on Ruta 3 heading south again. The long straight endless road stretches out in front of us and all we can do is engage cruise control and push through the miles. Trelew is a Welsh settlement town which states back several hundred years to when Welsh immigrants arrived and set u
