We were up early today. We have 630 km route 40 to get to our next destination the stretch of road we are arriving today is the famous part of Route 40 because of it 200 km section of ripeo. It is also notorious for the wind that comes off the mountains .

We had filled up the bikes yesterday. Our intention was to re-top of the tank at Tres Lagos before heading up an old section of the road. Our plans are changed when the fuel station was closed. After Tres Logos the ripeo started. As did the wind. The stretch of road is barren and desert but beautiful nonetheless. We stopped often to admire the views .

We kept pushing north and stopped for fuel. In Gobernador Gregores and then set off again on one of the long stretches of paved Road. One section is 50 km in a straight line with the wind from the left and it just seems endless as you fight your way along the desert landscape. At the end of this there is another fuel station where we needed to top up because now we were heading into the remote areas towards the Paso Roballe border.. The petrol station consist of two pumps in the middle of nowhere and a small house next door which also serves a general store for traffic passing by. We tried to get fuel but found that the power was out and they were waiting for it to be reconnected, so we spent an hour sitting in the general store eating biscuits And going through our itineraries.

Once we got our fuel, we set off back on the off-road sections again through an endless landscape of fantastic scenery. The photos will not do it justice. We arrived at the tiny town of Lago Posadasn and found our hotel which from the outside did not look like very much, but from the inside was like an expensive ski lodge. The host was incredible and it was an upside down house so our rooms were on the ground floor and upstairs was a huge lounge with an open kitchen and sitting area. We sat and had beers prior to dinner and then had an amazing dinner. There are some pictures below.
