We awoke to another blue sky day. Our plan today is to ride out to the bPerito Moreno Glacier. it’s only 120 km in each direction there and back and we are staying in the same hotel again tonight. So we get to ride our motorcycles without them having to be fully loaded with all of our equipment.

The glacier is one of the largest tourist attractions in Argentina. It stems from the Southern Patagonia ice sheet similar to the one on Lake Grey that we viewed a few days ago . The Patagonia ice sheet is the third largest deposit of freshwater in the world.. until recently it had the distinction of being the only one that was still growing whilst most others are retreating due to climate change. However, in the last 3 to 4 years it has also started to retreat.

The ride out to the national park was across step in farmland and we saw Cowboys with their dogs wandering across fields I often think people have made much better life choices than me.

Once we got inside the park we realised the size of the tourist attraction. There were two buses to coaches and private vehicles everywhere. When I visited seven years ago. It was a much quieter place. They now have huge car parks where you have to park and then be bust to the drop off point. We spent a good hour walking The prepared walkways and admiring this amazing site. We listened to the ice cracking and moaning as it continues its journey into the lake when we admired.

After a quick coffee we headed back to town, and took the steep walk down to the Patagonia bar and had an amazing steak with a glass of Malbec, did some window shopping in the stores and headed bck on the trek up to the hotel.
