Both of us were up early this morning, way before the hotel breakfast was going to stop. So we took a walk into town to see if we could find a coffee shop that was open. We had a couple of coffees, and walked back to the hotel just in time for breakfast.

Today we are crossing back into Chile, and our original plan was to take the border crossing which enabled us to take a ferry for two hours across the lakes. However, this was going to be a long day, and the weather was not looking good. So we decided to take the shorter option, which was to go through.Junin de los Andes, and cross the border at the Mamuil Malal Pass.

The weather remain dry, pretty much all the way to the Chilean border. However, the rain from the last few days made the Ripeo surface on the Argentine side prior to the border, a bit of a nightmare. Very muddy and slippery and with our new tires inflated for road use it made for me a very tricky few kilometres.

After the usual border crossing rigmarole. We were back into Chile. Heading through the past down towards Pucon. Whilst the scenery

always amazing, the low clouds and heavy rain made the journey a little bit miserable. We arrived into Pucon mid afternoon, having driven along the most amazing.gorse line Road I think I’ve ever seen. The fields the banks of the rivers and even some cases in the river. These plants are taken over and had covered everything in an amazing yellow display. It’s hard to put into words with the effect this has on the view around you. And sadly because of the rain we were not stopping to take photographs. There is one of those things that we live in the memory.

We stopped in town for lunch and then headed again in the rain, to find our accommodation. We were staying in igloo type rooms on the edge of a lake. The rims were great and the view is amazing, but all we wanted to do was to get our wet clothes off and chill for the rest of the day. Which is exactly what we did.
