18/19 November

These two days were quite long and drawn out as the endless negotiation back-and-forth with BMW about what could and couldn’t be done to the bike it went on and on. It seems that the parts I need for my suspension I’m not available apart from direct from Germany, and then only as part of the full suspension package Costing more than €2000. We decided to get the parts we needed machines locally at a metal workshop.

They came in Tuesday afternoon to take the measurements and advise they will be ready on Wednesday. Knowing how things work we decided to hedge our bets and book an extra night at the hotel and leave Friday.

We spent our time walking the city and exploring it’s amazing streets and parks. One of the parks is the biggest I have ever seen. We stopped in this park and had a lunch overlooking the rowing regatta Lake and enjoying endless views in all directions.

The city is laid out in grids and their parks are spread over , each one of them meticulously maintained and beautiful.. We headed in different directions at different times to try to get all of the little jobs that needed to be done on days off sorted and on Wednesday night we had the good news that the bike was ready to go and I could collect it on Thursday. This evening we went to a beautiful restaurant called Lucia, one which I went to 6 years before. It was good then, and it was good now. .

They gave us a tour of their celler and suggested some really nice wine for us to have.

As we walked back to the hotel through one of the parks they had a fountain which was lit and had music playing and it was wonderful to see all the family sitting around having picnics and watching the light showing entertainment . This place is full of endless surprises most of them really good.
