Today’s update will be a short one. I am still without a bike and in a hotel in a vineyard under the Andes mountains.

Today we continue to wake up early, and Tim and I went for a early walk prior to breakfast in the hotel vineyards. I have really enjoyed Tim‘s obsession with getting his steps in daily, and coupling this with normal writing it has been very good for my fitness and health. Now the question is to keep it up when I get home. We finished the walk just as breakfast was opening and managed to round off a healthy breakfast of poached eggs, avocado tomato, and bacon serve with fresh orange juice and coffee. It certainly makes a difference from the truck.

The rest of the morning was taken up by laundry, writing the blog and sitting in various positions around the hotel reading books or listening to music. I think this is the first time we have truly relaxed. Apart from our day at Las Balas we really haven’t had a huge amount of time to stop. We sat outside and had a Caesar salad for lunch and then I had a small siesta whilst Tim probably did things of checking chains on the bike and lubing everything up. At 6:30 a taxi arrived to take us to Siete Fuegos. This is a restaurant at a nearby Vineyard, which is run by Francis Malman, a very famous chef in Argentina. It is devoted to the art of cooking on fire, and was described by John Torode, in his series a chef abroad, as a temple to beef. I had booked this restaurant three months in advance as that is the maximum in in advance that you can book. And we have been looking forward to it for quite some time. We were given a tour of the kitchen and the seven fires on which the food is cooked..

We were then treated to trout gravelax, with a white wine and then probably the nicest beef

we have had all trip. All washed down with a fantastic bottle of Malbec..

As we were very much now in the mood, we decided to have Dessert wine with the dessert. We asked them to choose the wine and we’re very surprised when another bottle of red arrived, which wasn’t very sweet. We drank it anyway. We drank it anyway .We took our car back to the hotel, and then thought it wise to have a nightcap. Needless to say, I woke up in the night not feeling very well.
