Its finally here, after a year of planning and dreaming. Tim and I landed in Buenos Aires this morning. A calm and peaceful flight from Frankfurt that arrived at 6,35 in the morning. Luggage came through fast and we did not even get stopped at customs, which was nice as we are carrying a fair bit of cash.
We booked a taxi and headed directly to our Hotel in Puerto Madero. Obviously there was no chance to check in at this time of day, but they did take our bags enabling us to go and walk for a couple of houes around the old docks of BA.
The old docks of Buenos Aires were built in the 1880s, to solve the problem of the shallow water of the river Plate. However the appearance of larger vessels in the 1900s made the docks quicky obsolete. The area was redeveloped in the 1990s, and by the early 2000s had become BA's largest urban redevelopment project to date. The area is now high end apartments, restaurants and hotels. It was a very relaxing place to walk. It did not take us long to find the Patagonia Bar, and as we were still on EU time it sort of made sense to have a beer from the very place we were basing our adventure on. Just the one !

In the afternoon, we didnt do too much as the jet lag caught up a little, so we each started to sort out equipment that we needed to load onto bike when they arrived tomorrow.
As it was our first night in Argentina we thought it only fitting to get into some steak and red wine, and to that end we went to a fabulous Steat restaurant called El Mercado. We ate ribeyes and drank amazing Malbec wine, before walking back to our hotel to crash. We wanted an early night, as we had to be back at the airport earlys doors to collect our motorbikes and this was going to be a long and laborious day.
